Drake Reed was born and raised in the suburb Florissant, MO just outside of Saint Louis. As an adolescent he learned the nuances of the game from his father Carl Reed Sr. in the backyard of his home. It was in this environment where Reed learned the high values of work ethic, character, and intensity which would propel him into a professional career.
During Reed’s brief time at Chaminade Prep in St. Louis, MO he and his family decided it best for them to venture south to Clarksville, TN where Reed would pursue the chances of becoming a division one collegiate athlete. Reed spent a brief time at Clarksville Academy before transferring to Northeast High School where he would own his skills under respected coach Al Cooper. At Northeast High School, Reed made a name for himself as a two-sport standout being honored in both basketball and football as one of the state’s top athletes. Through a vigorous recruiting process Reed chose to further his career at Austin Peay State University.
Under coach Dave Loos, Reed would again excel to becoming an elite player, not only in his conference but known nationally as an AP All-American, Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year, and Collegeinsider.com Mid-Major All-American. At Austin Peay, Reed helped the Governors to records in wins for a season and conference wins in one season as well as appearances in the CollegeInsider.com, NIT, and NCAA national tournaments.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Communications, Reed chose to further his career abroad in Australia, France and Austria.
